Either as a data provider which create many datasets or as a data user who combines information from a lot of instruments, I want to access the functionalities of the HALO-DB programatically. This includes searching for datasets, creating new versions, browsing the links between datasets, listing all e-mail adresses of people to ask about using their data etc...

We need a programmatical API for uploading, downloading, and potentially managing the database. Example scripts in, e.g., python, for accessing the data base using this API for common use cases are required.
