Resolves issue #11

I'm really sorry about the very very late reply. I have been opening this pr from time to time but could never really gather my thoughts. The problem is that there are some intricate differences between the official package and the fork we are currently using. And I never had the time to go through it all. Well it's time to do it now. This will be released as version 3.0 once everything is validated..
