Out of curiosity, was this script autogenerated or written by hand? (I've been looking to modernize the AppVeyor scripts in my libraries as well.)

It was written by hand with some experimentation :)

@RyanGlScott for now it's a manual template but I'm considering a similar approach as with the travis script generator... once I figure out windows scripting a bit more :-)
