What he's trying to say is you can see the skybox, the fog, and an outline of
the terrain, but nothing else. No textures, no models or meshes, and no detail
once you get close enough to the terrain that you should be able to see it.

I am not having a problem with moving around, it's not laggy, but I seem to be
having the same issue as you. In some cases, I can see only the skybox and
non-texturous oulines of mountains. once i try to move closer, they disappear.
I have no clue what the problem is, and I, too, just installed this new version.

I installed this and I am having the same issue. Working maps right now are

Gnomeregan Instance
Sunken Temple
Blackrock Spire
Blackrock Depths
Onyxia Lair Instance
Maraudon
Deeprun Tram
Orgrimmar Insance
Dire Maul
Alliance PVP Barracks
Horde PVP Barracks
Hellfire Military
Hellfire Demon
Hellfire Raid
Coilfang Pumping
Coilfang Marsh

Coilfang Raid
Tempest Keep Raid
Tempest Keep Arcane
Tempest Keep Factory
Achindoun Shadow
Achindoun Demon
Achindoun Ethereal
Achindoun Dranei
Black Temple
Gruul's Lair
Nexus 70
Now I'm a newb, this is the first time I've successfully used the program (it
didn't work on my old computer no matter how much I begged), so maybe I am
loading something wrong? I tried turning things on and off with the F-keys to
no avail. Anyway the correlation I have noticed is that when asked to click on
the minimap to load in, the textures and doodads didn't load. When just asked
to click to load in, everything loaded. Also, it seems (SEEMS) in the ones that
loaded properly, no sky had to be loaded.
(PS Tempest Keep Atrium crashed the program but I think it's working)
(PPS almost all of the areas from Cataclysm will give me 'out of bounds'
messages.)
Thank you for a great program! I hope this helps you

You know, as much as I have not seen the code for this project, based on the
loading log it looks like blizz changed some of the file locations and we are
not up to date.

the problem is that the PTR no longer contains an 'expansion3.mpq' I also see
tons of other MPQs in the data folder that are not loaded by the program.
You know what it seems like we really need? We need to modify this program to
implement a menu where you can manually enter the filenames of MPQs that the
mapviewer should look in. This would allow users to get around Blizzard
re-arranging the MPQ structure without needing a mapviewer update.

Same thing for me too.
Running Map Viewer version 0.7 r20 on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
I click on a location and it either pops up with a completely blank screen or
pops up with the sky and outlines/meshes of mountains with no textures or
anything else.

The same problem happened on my computer.
I'm a Chinese WOW player, I tried to run this programme with my CN version
client several days ago and I failed, I told myself this is because the file
structure is different from the english version, then I downloaded the english
version, but it failed again...
I totally agree with Draki's suggestion, and I hope some function could be
added. Looking forward to it!

I am having the same issues as well. On almost every map it shows vague
outlines of what appear to be mountains, and also a skyline, but nothing more.
Hopefully these issues can be rectified soon, as I use Map Viewer for some
important things.

I downloaded the zip file for r20 and extracted it all into my programs folder.
When I start to open it, it doesn't even load up and I get this error report
"wowmapview.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for
the inconvenience."
idk what the problem is, can anyone help?

Same here, I am running Windows 7 64 bit machine and I am getting mountain
outlines and sky from all outdoor maps.
Has anyone managed to get this program working at all with outdoor maps? If so
can you let us know if you have a 32 bit or a 64 bit computer? most of the
posts I have found here and else where is that people are having this issue on
a 64Bit computer.
Thanks.
