I just downloaded the ISO of helloSystem to a USB to play around with it and see if it may be a viable candidate for replacing mac OS X on my wife's mid-2014 MacBook Pro when Apple soon ends security updates for that system. However, the laptop is in use, so I booted the ISO on an old ThinkPad w530 (as my Thinkpad x230 runs coreboot and won't boot a BSD kernel).
I like my initial look at helloSystem. However, when I tried to open Firefox and LibreOffice. In each case, helloSystem started downloading the pkg files from the FreeBSD mirrors, and then the laptop suddenly rebooted. I was simultaneously updating the FreeBSD port tree on helloSystem via "sudo portsnap fetch" in a terminal.
Sorry if this duplicates another issue -- I glanced through the open issues and didn't see this one.
