Any ideas what to do about linking once Stadia goes EOL? #27

Hey, this is awesome!

This project helps me solve a very specific problem I had with needing a Gamepad that would function over the WiFi.

Do we have any ideas for how we are going to deal with the controller linking after the 18th of January when they retire Stadia completely? Are there any other hacky alternatives for dealing with this problem?

Thanks for doing this, hopefully we can continue to make all this Stadia controller hardware useful after they close their doors for good.

as far as I can see this thing doesnt take anything regarding stadia services, but just basically uses a "website" running on your computer via the server to pull the stadia controller inputs via USB from your phone. so basically the path is directy

Controller -> Web Controller APIs -> Phone Browser -> Website on your the "stadia-wireless" Server (aka your pc) -> the virtual xbox controller on your PC

also Google announced apparently a BT Firmware Update

does your tool still work without the stadia infrastructure in place? thinking bout patching my controller 4 bluetooth, especially considering that they will also discard the firmware update tool at the end of the year. but if your shit still works i'd much rather use the controller via wifi

as this doesnt ACTUALLY run the stadia controller ITSELF over wifi but rather cables the controller to a phone and THAT does the whole wifi communication, you should be fine installing the BT firmware anyway.
