Hello :-),
Change how? For what?
Change how? I dont know how it is done. For what? Because I want to specify user and not have it default to unix username where irc client is running as.
Hmm, I'm not sure to understand. I ping @Jir4.
A wild @Jir4 appears !!! Your unix username is asked by the server ( using http://httpd.apache.org/docs/current/fr/mod/mod_ident.html ) and sent by your machine. If you don't want to provide it you have to disabled identd.
as an addition (I'm not sure to fully understand the question, but I try to contribute ;-) ) you can hide the username by asking a cloak (on freenode, this is achieved by requesting to staff in #freenode chan). see https://www.freenode.net/faq.shtml#cloaks
The cloak only hide the host, not the user.
Can we close this issue?
nick!user@host
I would like to change the user part there.
