TEI sic for unitellgible token #34

Open neelsmith opened 7 years ago

neelsmith commented 7 years ago

Paired with corr in a choice, sic is the prior state of a text changed/corrected by the scribe.

Used alone, however, sic marks a token that cannot be intelligibly parsed by our subsequent analyses (morphological, numeric parsing, or other type-specific analysis).

We need an example of this in the guide.

Ok, can we put this off until we have morphological parsing?

It should be in a separate validation/verification category of the editors guide. Otherwise we're going to get a lot of 'sic' tags we don't want from well-intentioned editors

Good suggestion. I'm going to put this in a separate milestone.
