[Bug]: Error on Windows when starting app #1305

Reproduction steps

  1. Installed version 1.14.0.
  2. Tried to open application.

  3. ... Reproduces how often: [What percentage of the time does it reproduce?]

Expected Behavior

I expected the application to open.

Actual Behavior

I receive the following error:

The procedure entry point DiscardVirtualMemory could not be located in the dynamic link library D:\Users\PRothenberg\AppData\Local\Programs\Stretchly\Stretchly.exe.

Version 1.14.0 crashes for me on MacOS Ventura 13.1 as well.

@philipr89 could you try redownloading and reinstalling again? Seems like it might be issue as well with your Windows: https://www.technewstoday.com/fix-the-procedure-entry-point-could-not-be-located/

(yeah, my mistake, it's not really a crash, but a damaged app notice)

I tried redownloading and reinstalling and received the same error. I ran DISM, as per the link you included and there are no files missing or corrupted.

@hovancik Ah, nevermind. I googled about this "damaged" error message and used the command xattr -cr /Applications/Stretchly.app to remove the message. The app works now. I have no clue what it was all about.

Probably it doesn't relate to @philipr89's issue.

It did not help. I tried the previous, old version, it installed and worked without problems.

Could it be that this error occurs because the program does not support the Windows 7 operating system? When I install new versions of other programs without Windows 7 support (OBS Studio, DaVinci Resolve), similar errors can also come out...

Updates are not supported, and your program is not included in the Windows 7 update package. And the old version works without problems ... it turns out that the problem is in the program itself, from where, from the new version, separate files were removed for stable operation in Windows 7. The program does not such multitasking and does not require serious resources like the programs that are listed above by me. Why for her to make such restrictions is not entirely clear ...

Не поддерживается обновления, а ваша программа не входит в пакет обновлений Windows 7. И старая версия без проблем работает... выходит, что проблема в самой программе откуда, из новой версии, были убраны отдельные файлы для стабильной работы в Windows 7. Программа не такая многозадачная и не требует серьёзных ресурсов как программах которые перечислены выше мной. Зачем для неё делать такие ограничения не совсем понятно...

Version 1.13.1 works on windows7, need to roll back to this version.
