[1.6.4 & 1.7.10] Sound Gone, have read FAQ #90

Let me began by saying I have read the FAQ, I know the sounds are downloaded and not included in the mod, but I'd just like to request an addon patch like there was for 1.4 and 1.5 versions of the mod, just for 1.6.4 and 1.7.10 as a possible hotfix,

I was able to download a sound pack for a 1.4.5 version of the mod and will put it here in case that helps. I really do love this mod, all the effort put into it is just fantastic, I want to try and help make the audio fully work without needing a server to download all the sounds from in case the server becomes obsolete. portalgun_soundpack_1.4.5v1.zip

After a bit of Fiddling around I found where the mod is looking for the sound pack. It tries to download a manifest from http://cdn.redstone.tech/ichun/static/assets.xml but that returns a 301 Moved Permanently to the same address, with https://. I'm not incredibly familiar with Java, but most http clients will not follow redirects between schemas, so the whole thing dies here. If you look at https://cdn.redstone.tech/ichun/static/assets.xml, there is a thing with the path pg1.7.10/PortalGunSounds.pak and URL http://cdn.redstone.tech/ichun/assets/pg1.7.10/PortalGunSounds.pak, that's what the mod is trying to fetch, so just download it, and put it in the mods folder.

Created an account just to thank you for that! I know it is already an deleted user, however.

In 2023 today, i was with the same problem where i play offline in a survival world with IC2, Buildcraft, shaders, railcraft and some other mods, tried to add it because i will not use the teleporter from IC2. (Managed to do everything that i wanted on the same biome).

Sound was not working, and it fixed my problem, so remember one day that this guy up there, many others, and i was thankfully able to play it with portalgun mod because of your help.

This was the only fix that fricking worked.

I had to dig so deep and on so many threads on so many places to find something that actually worked rather than just "this new update for the mod for x version of minecraft should fix it" while the 1.7.10 version was just left there broken and ignored. Thank you so much for being kind enough to look for the problem and for sharing the fix about this damn bug.

Even if you are now a deleted user i need to put here how much i and many others are and will be thankful for you for sharing the fix, thank you so much, thank you.
