@hasel001 Sorry, I should have cited the entire paragraph from S-100 17-4.4.1, the first sentence specifies purpose even for fileless cancellation (though not in so many words).

So purpose should still be cancellation even for fileless cancellations. (Edition 6 probably needs a clarification there.)

Added: so, according to that paragraph, for fileless cancellation:

• editionNumber: if mandatory, the same as the cancelled resource; if not mandatory ... ??
• purpose = cancellation
