Thanks for the input, @lubianat. We generally solicit feature requests via https://forum.inaturalist.org/c/feature-requests/16 where they can be discussed by other users, and keep the github issues for work that's ready for work by developers. Also, FWIW, we are planning on replacing this app with https://github.com/inaturalist/iNaturalistReactNative, so this app (and the native iOS one) are basically in maintenance mode.
@kueda I think you meant @dgilperez here! thanks!
Hah, sorry @lubianat! That's what I get for cutting and pasting. Will I ever learn my lesson? Probably not.
Thanks @kueda, thanks for pointing me to the right direction and sorry for the noise.
Very happy to learn about the react native app, I'm moving there. I see we're very close to soft launch. I'll see if I can contribute a bit as well :)
For anyone coming later here, there was already a feature request for this:
https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/add-unobserved-by-user-id-to-filters-in-the-apps/10231 https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/list-species-i-havent-seen-in-a-particular-place/3642/4
and reference https://forum.inaturalist.org/t/find-species-unobserved-by-me-in-a-specific-place/11497
As I am using the App, I constantly feel I need that checkbox in the Explore observations filter (next to "Show only my observations", probably). Knowing what species have been observed before in that area that I have not observed myself yet would provide an improved experience when on a trip or exploring a certain area.
I am not sure if this is the right place for this, please refer me to the right place otherwise. I know there's a param that can be set in the query string on the web, by hand, to achieve that. As this is is something that's already a feature, at least on the API, I think this may be considered just an UX App improvement. I realize this is slightly related to older features such as Missions or Checklists, or to gamification in a broad sense.
