Contact Quick Tasks Widget Won't Allow Adding Tasks - Says "Make the Widget Larger" #162

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Tap and hold home screen to add a widget
2. Select to add Contact Quick Tasks, then select a contact
3. When you try and select a task, it says to make the widget larger; can never
add a quick task.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect to see the widget and be able to tap the widget to text, call, etc..
Instead have a widget that when tapped, says it needs to be bigger. BTW,
making it bigger doesn't help.

What version of the product are you using? On what phone? What Android
version? Using a Droid 2, running version 1.1.5 Standalone

Please provide any additional information below.

I am having the same issue on my Droid X using 1.1.5 Standalone. On Android
2.1, the Contact Quick Task wouldn't work for ADW or any other launcher
(including stock); now that I've upgraded to Android 2.2, it works on stock but
not on ADW. This is the only knock that I've got on ADW, so I'd love to see it
get fixed. Thanks!

Indeed, I understand this may also be a motorola thing but I'd love to see my
contact widget work

Same issue here - ADW 1.1.5, Android 2.2 (new Droid X last week). Worked on
stock just fine - I'll have to go back until this is resolved.

Could any of you, DroidX owners, test if 1.2.0 fixes this?
Thanks

Sweet!!! That did it for my rooted Droid X running leaked Froyo.

It gave me the same error when I went to add it but I clicked Choose Later on
the number selection screen. Then assigned the number to it after it had been
added and it worked perfectly.

Thanks a ton...this makes my life much simpler.

Hm, some progress. If I accept the default 2x2 widget size, it still won't
allow me to add two numbers immediately during the initial setup. But, if I
opt to select the size later, put the widget on my home screen, and THEN hit
the "+" button on the widget itself, I can then add contact numbers (which are
unfortunately half hidden by the contact's picture). If I select a size bigger
than 2x2 during the initial widget setup, it appears to behave exactly as 1.1.5
did - no dice.

Android 2.2 (rooted), ADW 1.2 Standalone

@thecarlsoncrew

So what you're saying is:
Allow for the new implementation of stretch/resize widgets to be able to
stretch/re-size to what ever size regardless of the initial set-up?

Example: I choose 2x2 in initial set up and later use the new implementation to
make it 4x4??

@klinster1er - Thanks for your continued work on this issue!

As it is now, if I'm happy with only a 2x2, it works fine, with two caveats:
1. I can't add the contact numbers during the initial setup (must be done after
the widget is created); not a show-stopper, just a minor inconvenience
2. the contact picture half covers up both of the contact numbers (kind of a
big deal, especially for people with big fingers)

If I start as a 2x2 and then try to stretch it to a larger size, some new "+"s
show up, but I can't add any additional numbers to the new "+"s. And, if I try
to create the widget with a size other than 2x2, none of it works at all.

My assumption is that it should accept whatever (valid) initial size you want,
and allow you to populate those contact numbers during the initial setup. Then,
once the widget is set up, the contact picture shouldn't encroach on the
contact buttons (the "+" that turns into a phone or text message) on the widget
- the picture is secondary to the ability to one-touch dial/text the other
person. If you want to add the ability to stretch the widget to accommodate
more contact numbers after its initial setup, that's an added bonus in my
opinion.

Hopefully that helps explain things a little better. If not, let me know what
other info you need (screenshots, video, or whatever), and I'll see what I can
do. Thanks again!
