Hello Scott, I just got my slightly used Arc A770 yesterday and installed it on Ubuntu 22.04. Installation was a rough and I needed a older Radeon GPU to install the Arc drivers in advance so the Kernel doesn't crash on boot. But in the end it worked (modulo some random crashes)
Could you explain why the Kernel parameter nomodeset is necessary? I'm off course use the latest drivers (Stable release: 2022-12-05) and maybe nomodeset isn't needed anymore?
BTW: I noticed that X11 display sessions are unusable. I have to run a Wayland session to don't invert or corrupt colors.
Hello, I tried the Ubuntu 22.04 Arc guide for Serpent Canyon NUC equipped with A770M. Driver looks to be loaded in lspci/hwinfo but doesn't work. Nothing shows up here: /dev/dri/render*. Xrander spits lots of errors. I also see nothing here: /sys/kernel/debug/dri
I've attached the requested logs. Also, works fine in windows so not a hardware problem.
Also a suggestion for the guide. 22.04 needed to boot with 'nomodeset' on A770. Specifically the 3rd answer here was required: https://askubuntu.com/questions/38780/how-do-i-set-nomodeset-after-ive-already-installed-ubuntu
