SF.net and buildbot content alerts #460

Closed sf-issues closed 10 years ago

sf-issues commented 12 years ago

Converted from SourceForge issue 3419512, submitted by ceball Submit Date: 2011-10-06 11:22 GMT

Bug reports and feature requests, as well as buildbot notices (build failures and buildslave disconnections*) are currently posted to the topographica-cvs mailing list. They take a tortuous and fragile route involving the email accounts v1cball at inf.ed (forwarding address), ceball at tardis.ed, my personal gmail, a procmail script on tardis.ed, and filters on my gmail. All of this was necessary because (1) buildbot can only email @inf addresses (2) the sf lists only accept mail addressed a certain way (see the procmail script). The current setup isn't going to survive my exit from ed.ac.uk, and maybe now there is a simpler solution anyway (has sf.net released new features? can buildbot now use an external mail server?)? Otherwise we could at least revert the trackers to mail Jim @inf only, and also set buildbot to mail Jim @inf too.

* Actually, I think these don't make it to the list. I see them in my emails, but maybe they're not being forwarded

Is this still an issue worth keeping open or can it be closed?

I haven't messed with the setup,so I assume it will still break when Chris leaves, :-(

Looks like buildbot now emails the topographica-cvs mailing list (something that used not to be possible): https://github.com/ioam/ioam-builder/blob/master/master.cfg#L15

SF.net emails (e.g. issues) are presumably irrelevant now (?). But do you see any address belonging to me in any of topographica's SF.net admin settings? If not, then I think you can close this issue.
