[Request]: Add "More Java Online sites" #30

Please add a section to the playground page for "More Java Online sites".

SnapCode is a full free Java IDE running on a full Java JVM in the browser, complete with games, graphics, Swing and more. And it could really use the exposure. :-)

For that specific site: I don't know how much self-promotion the maintainers want from people contributing suggestions/articles/etc (I guess not much). If anything is added, I think it would be better to use something "authoritative" in some way.

In general, I don't think there's much of a point in adding multiple options for essentially doing the same thing (at that point, it might be better to "improve" the Playground if it is really necessary).

Disclaimer: I am not a maintainer of the dev.java site and I'm not an Oracle employee. I am just an outside contributor.

It wouldn't be self-promotion if you guys posted it (instead of me :-) ).

I was thinking Oracle was using Playground to evangelize using Java - which is a great idea. Playground is great for running snippets with the latest Java sever side features, but it would also be nice to evangelize fun client side features available in other "Java online" implementations. Though I admit I don't know of too many others (anymore).

Here is another link of SnapCode running as the Java Playground:

Maybe Oracle would consider using this instead. It supports Swing, WebGL 3D graphics and full development (higher Java versions coming soon).

Hi @reportmill, thanks for the suggestion. At this time we're focused on our own implementation. We'll consider whether we want to add links to other options, or a wiki where folks can add their own projects.

Thanks Chad - that sounds great!
