@figaw about the second problem (email received with a non working password): I see that both accounts did have their password changed twice after their respective creation: if the emails weren't sent in the right order, then it could explain.
I believe you should start by solving the email issue first (until you receive the emails when resetting) to avoid additional issues in the future. Is that Ok for you?
