closes #59 currently the cells die quickly (the age is 500). having them die at 1000 or 1500 seems about right. But i couldnt be bothered to wait every time when testing.

@jenniferemshepherd @edpe @rcvink do you guys wanna merge this or shall we wait for it to remove the cell from the cell repository? You could still work on the branch today if you wanted to

Agreed with @edpe above - suggest we also remove the cell from the cell repository prior to merging.
