Allow the users to remove the bottom scrim and its metadata from backdrops #585

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

When using custom backdrops from a Google+ album, it would be great if users
can choose to remove the scrim at the bottom along with its metadata so that
they can clearly view their own album photos. Photos with white background are
currently most severely affected with a black gradient showing up on the bottom
half of the screen. There is already a setting for removing weather data from
this scrim. Perhaps we could have another one to completely remove the scrim
along with the time and photo description.

We couldn't repro this issue, images show fine (even ones with white
background). If you think otherwise, please provide an example image we can
identify the issue with.

Please see the attached image which I used to confirm the presence of the
scrim. What about giving users the option to remove the metadata (album
description and time) for their personal G+ photos in the Chromecast app?

There's an option to cast a slideshow of personal pictures from G+ as backdrop
which doesn't show any metadata.

It shows the time, name of album and the album description on each photo in
the slideshow.
