what speakers do we want to install and where? outdoor speakers? are we using unity gain? this might involve building a max patch to route and spatialize audio (miap?) what supplies do we need (gaff tape) how could we dress / hide / mask things visually?

We're thinking that a good software workflow would be teensy hardware (midi-friendly) > max > ableton

@jmoneyfur made a cool max patch that we could work off of. they also made a good case for working just with max (and not connecting it to ableton)

spatialization: we are planning to use unity gain (32 channel speaker array). we can use either MIAP or SPAT as the software to spatialize. MIAP allows you to specifically place sounds at or near speakers, and SPAT uses ambisonics that assumes a "sweet spot" in the center of the room. That decision will be made later, and it would good to test both in the actual space. We can work on the actual panning without deciding whether we will use MIAP or SPAT.

Unity gain placement:
24 in large room
16 in small room
possibly in corners?
one or two interfaces/computers

Speaker arrangements: 8x3 in the large room 4x4 in the small room
