Tell me a bit more about the error. How to replicate it?

Any click on piwigomedia icon in the WYSIWYG editor results in a pop-up displaying a browser error. The above error is from Tor Browser Bundle (Firefox).

Safari, Chromium, and Opera report the same, slightly differently worded, error: This page contains the following errors: error on line 42 at column 56: xmlParseEntityRef: no name

It looks like this may be upstream from Piwigo api?

popup.php checks if user is logged to WP before anything else. I must try this with tor.

Has anything happened regarding this issue? it still exists under WP 4.4
