Bug report

What you were trying to do (and why)

New set up to be used mainly as a client.

What happened (include any debug output)

スクリーンショット 2020-12-21 11 05 48

When I click 'Configure...', the menu icons just gray out and freeze. It seems to be working as a server, but I can't get the cursor back to the machine that controls it.

I force quit several times and tried again, sometimes only the shadow of the window frame appears.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

I only installed and started it, but no trouble occurred on other BigSur Mac. I'm assuming it's due to the environment, but if there's any way to get the necessary debugging information, please let me know.

Environment information

Device: MacBook Air 2018 OS: macOS BigSur(11.2 beta) Teleport version: 1.3

Thanks for the bug report @takustaqu.

I have a few questions to help with troubleshooting:

  1. Were you previously using another version of Teleport on this machine successfully or is this the first time you're using it in this configuration?
  2. Open Console.app (/Applications/Utilities/Console.app) and search system.log for any mentions of teleport and paste them here.
  3. Open Terminal.app (/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app) and run ioreg -l -w 0 | grep SecureInput and paste the output here.

In addition to those steps, please provide any additional information about your system that might be relevant. Are you using any software that could conflict with Teleport?

takustaqu commented 3 years ago
  1. I used the previous version several times in Catalina, and just tried to use it after a long time with the combination of BigSur and 1.3.0.
  2. Dec 21 16:41:13 takustaqu-macbookair com.apple.xpc.launchd[1]: Coalition Cache Hit: app<application.com.abyssoft.teleport.43317685.43317695(501)> [812]
  3. Nothing was returned.

The environment itself is almost identical on the two Macs, but the Mac that is having the problem now has the BigSur beta installed. The other Mac also has BigSur installed and the applications are almost identical, but they are working. This is BigSur on Stable.

The only one I can think of is Karabiner-element....

I'm not sure if this is a proper report, but I'll add it if I notice anything.

@johndbritton Solved. Deleted the old plist in Preferences and it works now!

johndbritton commented 3 years ago

@takustaqu glad you found a resolution and thanks for sharing. I'll be sure to delete the plist as a debugging step when troubleshooting other people's issues in the future.

Hi @takustaqu @johndbritton I'm facing the same issue. Which plist file do I have to delete inside Preferences? Can't find any that seems to be linked to Teleport.

bhavul commented 2 years ago

Nevermind, figured it out if anyone else reaches here in future :

# FIRST KILL teleport!
rm ~/Library/Preferences/com.abyssoft.teleport.plist*
rm -fr ~/Library/Caches/com.abyssoft.teleport
