This branch contains several changes I made for myself, but which could also benefit others.

The most significant are:

remove PSRAM requirement (at least for opus streams)
support PCM5102 and similar I2S-codecs without I2C control interface
support usage of the wired Ethernet-Interface
make DSP effects optional to save RAM
make rtp-support optional to save RAM

Since reworking these changes into simple very nice commits may take enough time for me to forget about my intend to share it. I want to offer it here in its raw form. Since community effort feels more motivating than some silent lonely ambitions :smiley: .

That sounds awesome! Have you seen Euphonium And Squeezelite-ESP?

It might be useful to for that in a Euphonium plugin...``

Also have a look at https://github.com/CarlosDerSeher/snapclient it is the most updated branch of the code in this repo. I believe it will be worth porting some of the changes you've made there.
