Add options to all public API methods #61

Giving the user more control. Should solve #15 and #29, amongst others.

Hi Jani,

you've been generously merging all the pull requests; I really appreciate it. Now what about this one? Is it too big? Is it one too many? I understand you stopped actively maintaining this library, but I have only one more contribution in the pipeline, promise ;)

Thank you very much! And please don't apologize; it's awesome that you still take such good care of the project when you apparently no longer use it and/or have time for this.

Now the big question is: Can we hope for a new release soon? There were some fixes recently and I'm depending on some of the modifications with a project I'd like to publish.

As I said, I'm working on one other thing, but that only touches the tests and doesn't need to be included in the release. (Unless, of course, we should reveal any bugs in the process...)

As it happens, I was working precisely on that while you were typing your comment -- 0.6.1, incorporating your fixes, is out now!
