Storyboard-specific

XRWei commented 7 years ago

By Team 15 Aaron Hurtado's Story Board review: The first storyboard is really interesting. The idea of posting task online is really helpful for people not having time to complete tasks. The second storyboard is not really connected to the map idea. It's more like a social networking App instead of using map as the main focus of idea.

(Team Chicas) Jennifer Phung's Storyboard 1, PetFinder: Great drawings! What's the difference between reporting a lost pet to the humane society and getting an email back from it? It doesn't seem interactive, despite its good intention.

Jennifer Phung's Storyboard 2. AnimalAssistance: This is like another one time use app. It could probably be a service that is added to an existing non-profit web app/site with the previous idea.

For Hee's Storyboard 1, it clearly illustrates the parking problem. In reality, the GPS itself will not tell you about the available spots in the parking lots and you need to figure out how to keep track of the parking and leaving. I believe this is one of the tough problem on this idea. Using zipcode as input might not be accurate because the coverage area is too large. Maybe using the number of parking lot may helps to solve this problem. The storyboards can include the process how the app helps the user to park instead of time counting. The system can request feedback from users to tell other users about further information in current parking lot.

For Hee's Storyboard 2, there should be more information about how map works in this app. Users can finish tasks and get some money but there is little explanation how the users get tasks from the system. Maybe you can add more boards to show more details about app working process.

Comments on Trung Do's storyboards by Ruijia Cheng from team Chicas: For storyboard 1, I like how it clearly show the need, process and satisfaction. But I feel the idea is too similar to Yelp. I can't see a reason why people would use this app instead of Yelp. Maybe try to have some feature that is unique.

For storyboard 2, I like the idea that find people nearby to go to the gym with. The storyboard also clearly shows the need and satisfaction. My advice is that make sure to do the need-finding interviews carefully to find out how people feel about hanging out with strangers.

Team 18:

Although a good solution, the parking app seems very difficult to implement.

The animal assistance also seems like a good idea, however it could expand in scope. Instead of just focusing on animals, maybe expand it to something else.

The app that post jobs, finding things to do and finding a gym buddy seems like stuff that is already possible through facebook.

My favorite idea was the food recommender. Simple, nothing like it on the market and could be very useful.

(Team 18) Your story boards are all very clear in what the applications will accomplish. The one about meeting up with strangers to do an activity seems cool in concept, but in reality I don't think people are as open to meeting strangers randomly to do a fun activity. For the animal assistance app - the idea is cool, but there can be many potential problems like what is stopping the person from just directly bringing the animal over. Also, will the vet have the time to send someone out to retrieve the animal, etc. I like the small jobs idea it has good potential in university towns especially.

Team 18 (C9) Feedback Grant: The two storyboards that stood out the most for me were the tinder for food, and the meeting/planning app that is based on what friends are up to. I like the idea of making a tinder for food. I think it could be successful and humorous to make it almost exactly like a dating app. Your date is the food!

For the meeting/planning app, I created a similar app last quarter and found that the biggest needs were centered around the real time activity of the user. It got really awkward and uncomfortable when they actually tested the prototype, because everything was in real time. We ended up having to create a bot that facilitated and recommended what to do. Finding out how to make the experience natural, and with a lack of awkwardness will be a tough task.

Team 18 Really good ideas. I think the ones that have the most potential are the Pet finder app and the Foody app. I think you could merge the Pet finder app with the pet assistance app to get the most features out of both ideas.
