I have attempted an upgrade of my project's Nexus to 1.9.0.1 today and found that crowd auth/authz stopped working. After a little investigation I've learned that this was caused by the switch to Apache Shiro. I see you haven't got time to update the plugin yet, so I took a swing at it. It turned out to be quite easy. The plugin is working with my Nexus instance, now upgraded to 1.9.0.1, I'm able to log in and perform admin tasks.
While at it, I've also upgraded crowd-integration-client to version 2.0.0, which is last one using SOAP API. 2.1.0 uses REST and would require more involved changes.
