page x on page total (for the context)

next-prev

Page 1 is the most recent (in the default sorting)
Last item is displayed
A couple of pages displayed in between
There is a next page at the end.

URI is saying page 2 and a reference number.

The left side gives the possibility to come back to the first page (most recent items) but this will have changed.

the right side: gives the state (page 2) and the navigation to +1 -1 pages.

One of the issues is that after a little while your state is anyway lost.
