The SAEOSS Portal has been proposed as a system of software components functioning together as the national central earth observation geospatial repository, with a view to metadata and open geospatial API standards compliance as well as user impact maximization
This component shall implement OGC compliant CSW endpoints with search, browse and harvest functionality integrating with the Metadata Store and Search Database. This component shall also implement a STAC API with search, browse and harvest functionality.
Justification or rationale: The system needs to efficiently and automatically fetch and incorporate metadata records in bulk fashion from existing data curators who hold large metadata databases themselves, using standardized metadata exchange formats internationally. This is key to creating a national scale database of EO metadata in a reasonable time reliably.
Verification requirements: Search and browse on external CSW and STAC endpoints match external independent CSW and STAC search and/or browser results. Equivalent results replicated in back-end database upon execution of harvest functionality on respective CSW and STAC endpoints.
