This kbingham/rpi branch is getting quite old and warrants rebasing on to the latest master. But there will be impacts due to internal changes.

I'm afraid I'd left this branch a bit stale as we're targetting a whole new RPi driver in the future.

Would it help if I rebase this branch for now?

Otherwise, i think the correct thing to do here is simply cherry-pick 6a832d114e12162a4a2eb0d48a74b035db73ce4b as a temporary measure :D
