The 4 capital-K Keybase.exe processes are the Electron GUI frontend. Of the 2 lower-case keybase.exe processes, one is the service that does most of the actual cryptography, and one is a "watchdog" that restarts it if it crashes. There are also processes named upd.exe (updater) and kbfsdokan.exe (filesystem). They should all go away if you exit with the tray window menu except upd.exe.
I received a new desktop PC yesterday. The machine has an AMD A10, which I understand has 4 cores.
So I started the process of the installing the apps to commission my PC before decommissioning my laptop to Linux laptop.
However, today, I noticed my desktop PC seemed to be busy. So I popped open Task Manager to see what was what and to some surprise, I saw 4 keybase processes running. I do not believe the keybase processes have anything to do with my PC being busy, merely coincidental. There were 2 keybase utility processes running.
I set keybase to start on startup of the system. So, I have not started 4 instances. Maybe a bug in the OS.
I do not know whether this is a Windows 10 'bug/feature' or an issue with the keybase installation.
So I guess my initial questions are - has anyone else seen this? Is it known? Is this a Windows 10 issue? etc.
