Sticky platform summary box #81

What steps will reproduce the problem? 1.In SituationalAwareness viewpoint, under PlatformTracks, position mouse over the minimizer button (box with minus sign) for one of the platform types. A summary box will appear. 2.Click the minimizer button.
3.The list of platforms minimizes as expected, but the summary box sticks (does not ever go away). What is the expected output? What do you see instead? I would expect the summary box to go away at some point, maybe when I move the cursor off, or maybe even just when I click the minimizer. Instead, nothing I do except for a reload of the page seems to get rid of that summary box. Furthermore, the entire panel below the summary box no longer responds to click events (so I can't, e.g., minimize another of the platform types). What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? This is the current version of the ODSS as viewed at http://odss.mbari.org/odss . Using a mac (OS 10.6.7) with Safari version 5.0.5. Please provide any additional information below.

And I can say the same for Chrome on the Mac. Attached screen dump shows this bug. More importantly when this happens, the toggle buttons on the right panel (may they be platforms, drifters what have you) do not work.

The work around is simple. Just collapse the sub-panel (which does work) and expand again. But this is nonetheless an annoyance that we can do away with.

Actually I take the last 'work around' back. The pane seems to freeze altogether when these tool tips get stuck. So the only "work around" is to reload the browser, which really isn't a work around.

Tool tips in the side panels (left or right) is a bad idea. It might be cute in a demo system, but in something that is meant to be operational (and functional) it serves no utility while freezing the side panels. The best thing to do is to do away with them after understanding why the side panels freeze.

Additional clarity on the superfluous tool tip which makes the right panel (portions of) freeze. See attached.
