Allow searching/filtering task by the title of the task and linking of timesheet records to them #10

Currently it is not possible to filter for a specific task by the title or from the time sheet view. Kindly allow this so that tasks can be easily searched or referenced to the time sheet view. Kindly help identify all of the time sheet records that are associated with a said task.

Searching by the title works for me (in the task management view), so I guess you mean when you search in the timesheet view, correct?

That is rather complicated, even though the info is already available. Kimai currently has no concept to add search options from a plugin. The idea is good and I totally accept the feature request, I just have to think about and test how that could be done. Thats one of the features that looks so easy but from the technical side isn't...

What do you have in mind exactly? Do you want to use it in all places (invoice, export, timesheet view)? Do you want to see the list of all entries for one task in the timesheet view? How would you like to search: freetext, autocomplete dropdown of tasks ...?

Can you please share your use exact use-case / ideas how it could work.

I forgot about the free text search, correct it is possible to search in the task management view. Yes searching from the timesheet view would be good. Do you want to use it in all places (invoice, export, timesheet view)? yes have it used across all places would be good. This way we can stop using the tags as our task identifier and use tasks for it. Do you want to see the list of all entries for one task in the timesheet view? yes How would you like to search: freetext, autocomplete dropdown of tasks ...? autocomplete drop down might be better, but sometimes free text would be would be good to get all results with similar names in one go. But freetext also could cause headaches as there is no way of excluding the records which come up on screen. With autocomplete one is limited to the results shown. But both have their own user to be honest. But between them if i have to live with one then its better to have autocomplete. But if you can also provide an addon free text search it would also be most welcome with the autocomplete.

Is there any estimation on when this feature might get developed?

I started using Kimai self-hosted without any plugins, and (just as rarvin) used the tag entity for ticket numbers in Jira / issues in GitHub... Now that I am using Kimai cloud, I'd like to clean up my data and create regarding tasks for the old misused tags, remove those, and instead link the existing times to them.
