Immediate crash on launching the game (Skyrim VR) #22

I removed all other mods and just installed this one... and I can't even start Skyrim VR. After removing the mod files, the game works again. Tried the files on Nexus as well as the "Skyrim VR fix" here on github. Nothing worked, always crashes immediately.

Well, I just tried 2.3 version with Skyrim VR and it worked great... Do you have antivirus software enabled? Did you try to disable it?

kosumosu commented 5 years ago

Also please tell, which folder you have installed Skyrim VR into? Full absolute path.

kosumosu commented 5 years ago

Did it crash before installing other mods, just with x3daudio_hrtf?

I can confirm as well that it does work with Skyrim VR

I did have this issue, But I am unfortunately unable to reproduce the exact circumstances when it happens. Just consider this anecdotical, in case it gives a hint, what could cause this: -Installed the Skyrim fix (contains only dll, x3daudio1_7_skyrim_vr_fix.7z) from the 2.3 release, also had installed a ton of mods --> no issues -Because of some other issue - changed the windows OS language to deDE (my steam is on German, but I had OS language on enUS), change required windows logout+login --> suddenly I had this crash removed the dll from game folder --> no more crash Started skyrim clean without any other mods, only this DLL --> crash appeared Changed OS language back to enUS --> crash appeared still - so it is NOT the OS language causing this directly Used the xaudio_hrtf_2.3_x64.7z (with the additional hrtf folder isntead of only DLL) instead --> no more crash (confirmed through process explorer that the dll is actually loaded by the game exe)

So... Idk what exactly causes it, but either some windows change or logout+login seems to change something in the windows user profile that breaks it. (Maybe windows registers the DLL somewhere or prefetches it etc, its weird).

Btw.: Bit defender Anti-Virus was on the whole time (with and without crash). Bitdefender Log showed no alert that anything was blocked.
