The same issue seems to exist for people (including myself) who try to install Xposed Framework (2.4 beta1) on Android KitKat. Xposed Installer asks for root permissions and although the Superuser dialog pops up it apparently does not get root and can't remount the /system partition r/w. It seems SuperSU doesn't have this issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47774718&postcount=5650 & http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/1rb4u2/xposed_framework_beta_released_for_44/cdlf9kh
The latest Superuser works fine on KitKat for things like Titanium but not for StickMount [1]. The permission is granted, however nothing happens after that.
I tested this on both my 2012 Nex7 as well as the Nex5. Using SuperSU, the StickMount app works on both.
