logical device id also must maintained. As the virtual network appliance deployment by tenant can have an appliance category [ex SLB] with different configurations within his DC network. So logica device id can be used to identify the configuration.

Not related to the question but it leads to the following issue. Our APIs seems to provide initial config through personality parameter. What is the interface for run time configuration for appliances or stats collection from the appliances . How shall this plugin interact with LBaaS (for example) in configuring different vendor appliances of same category. I believe we need to complete this gap.
