In 5-merkmalstrulturen.tex, the features in AVM and the texts in \textsc{} should be seen different from other characters. But in Chinese font at present, it looks the same as other characters.

@hettylulu I know now how to set the \sc font, but I do not know what to use there. Should I take a different thickness or a totally different font?

stefan11 commented 4 years ago

The sc font is also used for glosses. Do we really have to have a different font? After all it is clear what is a feature (left) and what is a value (right).

hettylulu commented 4 years ago

Yes, we could tell the difference based on their position in AVMs. But in the text, it is difficult to tell.

I make a comparison between Chinese and English versions. In English version, it is very clear. features are in capitalized and bold. values/types are in italics.

For Chinese, we do not use italics. I suggest we could make use of other font types, such as HEI script (黑体) and FANGSONG script(仿宋). In the following, I present four font types. Font 1 is the most used type in our book of SourceHanSerifSC(宋体); font 2 is the type we use in quotes of FZKTJW(楷体); font 3 is FZHTJW(黑体), which is bold; font 4 is FZFSJW(仿宋), which is slim. I think we can use font 3 for \textsc and font 2 or 4 for \textit in our Chinese edition.

This has the potential for ruining the book. Choosing the right fonts is important. They have to be compatible in their design and looks. Maybe you can ask a font expert.

The fonts have to be free. What fonts are the fonts you named above? We could use different strength from adobe or the other font package we are using for quotes.
