I had slightly different symptoms than #7, but close enough that I believe they're the same issue. @larssandergreen does this fix the problem for you?

If so, Brian - probably worth tagging a new release with a new minimum Civi version.

Thanks Jon, but no luck. I'm still seeing the same error with your patch.

@lcdservices I'm actually going to close this, since it includes separate commits from the one I intended. The only fix I needed in Civi 5.36 is the last commit (change contribution_id to id).
