I almost never use highlighting so I don't need a shortcut. On the other hand, I'm running out of easily reachable shortcuts for other extensions so I'd appreciate if I could remap F8 for other purposes.

This shouldn't bee too hard to implement. However there are currently more pressing things to do (and not enough time to do them) so don't expect it to happen too soon...

This would definitely be nice, even if via editable text file. Perhaps for now you can put (F8) in the end of the tooltip when hovering the highlight button? I didn't even know F8 worked until now! (Also, thanks for making the first multi-word-search-and-highlight replacement worthy of disabling the old GoogleBar Lite that I have relied on for years!!)
