I haven't been using Catalyst much lately, and I have no idea how the Component::ApplicationAttribute works -- so ... is this kosher on ALL Catalyst versions post 5.8 (aka Catamoose)? or does it only work on certain versions?

Yeah, it's avail since Catalyst 5.8.
