One could argue that it's good to always see these info for transparency (income and number of patrons) It would be a de factor public income report which it desirable for something seeking funding publicly. Crowdfunding is about trust.
But I also see some reasons why one would want to hide this. It really depends on the point of view. E.g. if the cost of life [1] of your region is then high potential donors could be deterred to donate due to the high existing amount. It would be an unfair penalty. Considering the funded person/project is already using a much more ethical funding channel than mainstream ones. (a better solution would be communication about where the funding goes and set funding goals)
Would a compromise be to be able to hide the number of patrons and amount on the condition to set a funding goal? (which would be displayed in %). So there would be still some level of transparency. And it's not only about transparency. Goals are also a motivating factor to fund because it tells what the funding is for and how near the goal is. Even without a goal, in my case, I can infer from the income that the funding campaign is taking off and it motivate me to join.
[1] and a high difference between raw income and net income after e.g. retirement, unemployment and health insurance are taken into account.
Users should be given the ability to hide the Patron count for full privacy
