Also, the --version
argument does produce invalid numbers (at least not related to those available in Fedora).
I think the version doesn't really need to be displayed in GUI, if you don't want. On Linux, it's easy to use rpm
or gnome-software
to see a program number. But on Windows, it's not. So at least a version.txt
file inside the directory would help users to learn the program version and in return your bug reports would be more helpful, when reported by windows users.
To make bug reporting easier for normal user, please add version number somewhere in GUI. Although program supports
--version
argument, I guess that most users will not be aware of how to run program with arguments.
