I thought other people may find this useful. I've got a fork of your firmware for my printer with the config tweaked for my setup, and I've successfully used this Dockerfile (via podman in my case) to compile and upload the firmware to the printer.
This could reduce some of the questions about where to copy the modified board files, etc.
