Enhance ban options for commander type table #3687

I think that people want to be able to specify more specifically what they would like to play against.

0, Up to 5, Up to 10 counter spells 0, Up to 5, Up to 10 planeswalkers 0, Up to 2, Up to 5 infinite combo pieces 0, Up to 5, Up to 10 infect cards 0, Up to 2, Up to 5 extra turn cards Yes/No destroy all lands (Ravages of War/Armageddon) Yes/No Broken commanders Up to 5 named cards (for eg: Bane of Progress/Aura Shards/Decree of Annihilation/Solemnity/Jace, The Mind Sculptor)

I could see it implemented as an extra object that gets sent to the server so would probably make the need for a major release

This seems pretty weird in my opinion. Targetting counterspells, pws, combo pieces, infect, and extra turn seem rather arbitrary in my opinion. For example, you miss stax pieces, cards with price >10, eldrazi, hand disruption, etc. In addition, the criteria you have chosen leave some decks untouched while banning some "casual" decks.

For example, if a player were to select no counterspells, then the oloro player with a singleton absorb, or the braids deck that uses fold into DAEther would be barred. 5 counterspells though allows mana drain, force of will, flusterstorm, pact of negation, and mental misstep, which is alguably all a combo deck needs. Then, there is the question of whether redirect or commandeer count as counterspells.

Interestingly enough, if you allow up to 2 infinite combo pieces, the efficient 2 card combos are allowed wow the less efficient combos are not. And of course, there is the question of what counts as a combo piece. Rings of Brighthearth? Basalt Monolith? Only when they are together? Archangel of thune? Viscera seer? Nim deathmantle? Geralf's messenger?

Similarly, extra turns is hard to define. Does plea for power or ral zarek count? And would expropriate count 4 times because everyone seems to vote time? And does cards like mindslaver or lethal vapors count as extra turns, even though they don't say that anywhere?

Filtering destroy all lands leaves trinisphere, winter orb, static orb, hikori, tangle wire, cactalysm, etc.

And how do you define what a broken commander is? Anything tier 2 or higher on the tappedout cedh tier list? And this would also block a teferi precon, as teferi can be insanely broken, even if the precon isn't.

Not sure that your concerns are warranted as it will be optional. There are people who don't like certain cards/styles of decks (me being one) so this will be a way to enforce those when you would like to be able to aka playing a casual deck or trying a new deck

I just feel that if someone ticks "no destroy all lands", and gets winter orbed, there will be salt. But there's always salt in EDH in xmage, so I'm not sure this makes it any worse.

Maybe custom banlist for a table? This way you can pick and choose which cards you don't want to play against ~because you're a crybaby~
