Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.1, Menu & Mime System problems #77

mozo is involved with default-applications and mate-panel in applications disappearing from the (Classical) Menu and/or from the Default Applications selection boxes. Exactly where it is happening is unclear; I have a longer write-up in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mate/+bug/1914847 There also related issues listed in that write-up. I also have this under GitHub mate-control-center # 617. I also have this under GitHub mate-panel # 1200.

Expected behaviour

Install Brave and Wireshark, and remove Firefox; have Brave and Wireshark show up in Menu -> Applications-> Internet and have Brave in Default Applications combo box.

Actual behaviour

Install Brave and Wireshark, and remove Firefox; Brave not shown in Menu -> Applications -> Internet (Wireshark is) but is shown in Default Applications combo box and (by mozo) in System -> Preferences -> Look and Feel -> Main Menu. Look at Properties of Brave (all okay) and exit mozo. Brave is now shown in Menu -> Applications -> Internet, but is NOT shown in Default Applications combo box.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

This is after a fresh install of Ubuntu-MATE 20.04.1 from USB, followed by Software Updater. Used Welcome to install (all) its Utilities, then Software Boutique to do Brave, Wireshark, and remove Firefox.
