Honestly, people don't like using malware for educational reasons. I understand, cyber security professionals might use some, but people like us might use it for bad reasons. So, I can't blame him for deleting discord tokens found on github.

He was most likely telling people to keep their code private mainly because discord deletes any found bot tokens on GitHub.
