Package « future » is deprecated #40

The python « future » package seems to be going out the door on several platforms. It would be great to use something else instead.

Hi there @DerMouse! I had notifications off on this repo for some reason and did not see this. I will remove future and python2 in total for the next release - which should be on this weekend.
