Image/Sticker placement

What?

• The ability to import images into the user project
• The ability to select an image from a palette of some kind and place them into the canvas with the cursor
• The ability to scale an image

Some Use Cases:

• Symbols (e.g., Caution, Skull and cross bones, exclamation mark, light bulbs, check marks, etc). Can maybe also include some default symbols in the Assets to be used.
• A chart of data
• Character designs or sketches drawn in raster painting program
• Scientific diagram

Questions:

• Should user be able to import a reference image, a copy image, or the ability to choose between the two
  • Reference image: When the original image file is edited, the image inside of the Lorien canvas will reflect this upon reload
  • Copy Image: Lorien creates a copy of the image to be used and saves it, so that when the original image is edited, this does not reflect in Lorien since Lorien will have its own copy
• Should image scaling be done for all instances of the image in the canvas, or for each image separately?
  • One idea for this:
    • If the user changes the scale of an image in the canvas, any future placements of that image will use this scale (the last scale used)

Should user be able to import a reference image, a copy image, or the ability to choose between the two?

In my opinion choosing between the two would be the nicest, but if we could only have one I would choose the copy image option.

There is a software called PureRef which is an infinite canvas for storing, sorting and zooming in and out of reference images - this thing is so useful for modelling and just artists in general. If you add image storing and zooming into this app it would be a KILLER function! Please, please, please 😊
