Gearman scenarios - config sync part #13

Hi!

In the feature description of version 1.160 you mention that all mod_gearman scenarios are supported and nagrestconf can do the 'config sync part', but I cannot find any information regarding this in the documentation published on the new website. Is this still supported? Could you publish more information about how this works?

Thank you!

BRgds, Jochen

From the feature list of version 1.160: Supports distributed monitoring with mod_gearman. Supports all mod_gearman Common Scenarios including the advanced distributed setup. When using the mod_gearman scenario Distributed Setup With Remote Scheduler: Nagrestconf provides the ‘configuration sync’ component.

Hi Jochen, Indeed this is true, and you will find the documentation peppered with references to distributed monitoring but, as you have found, this point is not elaborated.

The reason for this is because I want to fix all bugs, write more plugins, add more documentation, and get a stable standalone version before tidying up, documenting, and advertising the distributed side.

So, to answer your question, yes - the software does support distributed monitoring although I can't support it yet, and yes - I will publish more information. Also, despite what I said in the previous paragraph, I might add more information for distributed monitoring before doing the other things as I'm starting a new contract where they will need distributed monitoring (giving me a chance to tie up loose ends), but they might need a Puppet integration plugin first, or something else - I'm not sure yet!

If you would like to know when new features are added I announce them on the Google Groups, nagrestconf-users and synagios-users and also in the News section in the nagrestconf web site.

Thanks for your interest and I'm sorry this feature isn't available to test right now. I'll keep this issue open to assign as a milestone in the future.

Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for your answer and clarification. For me this would be THE feature and reason to go with nagrestconf in production. I will for sure stay tuned! Keep up the good work! Cheers, Jochen
