I know that buzzbird is in a really early state, but adding add-on support will bring a lot functionality!

E.g.:

I could modify the Growl/GNTP add-on for Songbird/Firefox/Thunderbird to work with BB
There already is a mozilla add-on for minimize to system tray
Users could add their own url shortening services
....
