Normally it should look like this:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14076298/ShareX/2013/10/Czk3Acu7I8.png
Background have -20 contrast and selection have +10 contrast.
So background look properly for you but selection have inverse colors?
I'm not sure how that possible because i can't reproduce it.

I've played with the contrast, but it does not seem to be making a difference.
Again, the screen shot looks fine, it is only the selection tool that is
displaying that way while selecting the area to capture. I've attached the file
saved from the above capture, the colors here are correct.

You should select contrast and 1.1 value and take ss from it.
Selection tool using contrast effect with 1.1 value so this is the reason i
want ss of test window. Also background is using 0.8 contrast and not showing
inverse colors so it must be to do with this color effect.

Contrast this time, both the screen shot and the photo of the selection

Hummm, could be conflicting with display fusion (pro v5.1)? Or Fences? Or
Intel Graphics? Who knows.
Thing is, it was looking OK with previous versions and I have not updated those
other programs since. Guess I could just install an old xshare and wait and
see if it straightens itself out later.
Thanks for looking at this!

Because i did improvements to shape capture speed now it using color matrix
which is very fast image processing method. If you don't use additional
features of shape capture you can try:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/14076298/ShareX/2013/10/YjmsgPqMNl.png
Light crop. It is faster and don't have any effects.

OK, setting light crop to true fixes the display problem.
However the main reason I use shareX is so I can get the selection area perfect
down to the pixel. (I build a lot of manuals using screen shots).
Unfortunately, I can't use the light crop to do this.
thanks again
